Our Team

James R. Dunn, CPA

Co-Founder:

I spent 4 years in the Navy as a jet engine mechanic before graduating from the College at Brockport in 1979 with my accounting degree. I spent many years enjoying the fruits of private practice while also working as an antique dealer with my wife, Janet. Lori and I went to college together, and had always used each other as a sounding board for tough client issues. In 2003 we created Dunn & Pedro, CPA’s PC  to combine our practices, and, through additional mergers and acquisitions, we’ve built the firm into what it is today.

Lorene A. Pedro, CPA

Co-Founder:

I was first introduced to the world of tax and accounting by my father as a teen. So, it was natural for me to study accounting in college. I worked a couple of years in banking, but decided to pursue public accounting and start my own practice in 1987. It was a wonderful fit for me to have the opportunity to be a stay at home mom while running a small practice. My business grew as my daughter did. As Jim and I went to the College at Brockport together, we were there for each other when we needed a second opinion regarding client work. In 2003 we decided to merge our individual practices and incorporate the business. And, as the saying goes….”the rest is history”.

Linda Whyland, CPA

Michael Aikens

Staff Accountant:   After spending 20+ years in business management,  I went back to school in 2010 and now hold 2 degrees in accounting, graduating with the second from the College at Brockport in 2014. I’m currently completing my CPA licensing exams.

Sue Berlin

Office Manager/ Accountant:   I had spent most of my career as a full-charge bookkeeper/office manager in the construction industry. I have accounting experience in a manufacturing environment as well. This allowed me to raise my children and be there for all of their school and sports milestones, which was very important to me. I had always had an interest in tax accounting and worked seasonally as a tax preparer for several years when I was offered a full-time position at Dunn & Pedro. I happily accepted and enjoy my work here very much.

Grant Johengen

Staff Accountant:  I completed my undergraduate studies at Monroe Community College and The College at Brockport attaining my Bachelor of Science with the academic honors of Phi Theta Kappa, Beta Gamma Sigma and Alpha Chi. I then completed an MBA with a concentration in accounting at Rochester Institute of Technology. I bring experience as a corporate accountant as well as a variety of other skills to Dunn & Pedro.

Kate Whitcomb

Bookkeeper: I have an Associates degree in business administration from Genesee Community College and a Bachelors degree in mathematics from the College at Brockport. I have over 20 years experience working as a part-time bookkeeper, while staying at home raising my 2 sons.
